The supplier from whom we buy our meat for Pembrokeshire Farm B&B, Andrew J Rees & Sons Butchers in Narberth, has been nominated for The Countryside Alliance Champion of Champions’ Award.
Andrew Rees won best traditional shop for both Wales and the UK back in 2007. Only 3 Welsh businesses have won the UK Award. He supplies locally produced meat and fish of outstanding quality.
The Countryside Alliance Awards celebrate rural life, produce and communities. Often nicknamed “The Rural Oscars”, these awards are highly coveted. The Countryside Alliance is the leading voice of rural Britain and their Awards complement their wide ranging support and promotion of rural life.
The Countryside Alliance Awards started life in 2005 as the Best Rural Retailer competition. They were borne of a desire to give a voice and a platform to rural businesses and to acknowledge the efforts of thousands of unsung heroes who routinely go above and beyond the call of duty for their communities. The Countryside Alliance Awards took over where the Retailer competition left off, broadening the categories to include a start-up category to give a boost to those businesses in need of support in those crucial first few years.
The Awards will return in 2015 as it has been decided that in honour of their 10th anniversary we will turn to previous winners to run a Champion of Champions scheme.
