Pembrokeshire has some of the most spectacular beaches in the UK with some, like Barafundle Bay, rating amongst the best in the world.
Now, in the second year of the tough new EU standards for bathing water, almost all Pembrokeshire’s beaches have achieved the top score of “Excellent”, with only two falling into the “Good” category and two in the “Sufficent” category. This shows the quality of the water at Pembrokeshire’s beaches to be amongst the best in Europe. The figures are collected during the bathing season – from May to September – and are based on an analysis of the levels of E.coli and intestinal enterococci bacteria.
With clean bathing waters, our coast and natural environment will continue to provide huge benefits to the people of Wales and to our visitors.
