Narberth – finalist in Great British High Street Awards
The UK’s best high streets were revealed today after Government backed research put together a list of the most successful town centres.
Narberth in Pembrokeshire was one of the 12 best high streets across the UK competing for the title in the final, with Swansea and Treorchy being the other two flying the flag for Wales against competition from towns in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Pembroke, Carmarthen and Llanelli are flying the flag for Wales as finalists in the Rising Star Awards.
The best street will receive £15,000 towards a community initiative from the department for housing, communities and local government which runs the scheme with Visa.
Judges have praised four of the nominees for their environmental credentials with Narberth being singled out for offering electrical charging points in its car park to encourage the use of electric cars to reduce pollution.
